More Than Just Carbon: Why waste and supply chain metrics matter too.
Written by Jack Linnett (Co-founder & CEO)
Carbon gets the headlines.
But if that’s all you measure, you risk telling only half the story.
Waste and supply chain data matter for trust:
♻️ Waste is visible. Customers see packaging, recycling info, and landfill diversion rates every day. If your waste story doesn’t match their experience, credibility suffers.
🔗 Supply chain drives the most impact. For many brands, Scope 3 accounts for 70–90% of total emissions. Ignoring it risks overstating progress — and regulators are increasingly focused here.
📊 Context matters. Investors, NGOs, and customers all want a full picture. Selective reporting on carbon alone can look like cherry-picking.
💡 Opportunities hide in the detail. Supply chain engagement and waste reduction often deliver faster cost savings and stronger reputational benefits than carbon initiatives alone.
Trust isn’t built on one metric. It’s built on a whole picture.
👉 Modern brands show progress across carbon, waste, and supply chains — because credibility depends on more than just CO₂.
